About Babyn Yar

On 29 and 30 September 1941 the occupying German forces murdered tens of thousands of Kyiv’s Jews in the ravine of Babyn Yar; in the years of occupation that followed, Roma, prisoners of war, patients of the psychiatric hospital and many others were killed here too, and the Syrets concentration camp stood nearby. The site is now the National Historical Memorial Preserve “Babyn Yar”, at 44 Yuriia Illienka Street, with memorials across the landscape and the “Place for Reflection” (babynyar.gov.ua). Visit quietly and respectfully; the grounds are open-air.

Opening hours, prices and seasonal openings change, so please check with Babyn Yar before you go.
