About ULTIMATE Kyiv City Guide

ULTIMATE Kyiv City Guide is an independent guide for visitors to Kyiv, Ukraine. We publish 14 curated lists: restaurants, cafés, bars, hotels, sights, arts & culture, parks, walks, shopping, health, property, developments, taxis & rules and getting around. Today the guide holds 96 places, with 12 area and themed guides, 7 in-depth articles and 6 day plans, and we keep adding to it.

Our editor

Jai Michael is Editor-in-Chief of the ULTIMATE City Guides. With more than 25 years in the media industry, he founded ABSOLUTE brighton and London TV, and has worked with leading luxury brands around the world.

How we choose

Every place in our lists has been checked against its own website or an official source such as GOV.UK travel advice, UNESCO, the National Kyiv-Pechersk Preserve, the National Preserve “Sophia of Kyiv”, the Babyn Yar memorial preserve or Ukrzaliznytsia. Many Ukrainian sites close themselves to foreign visitors in wartime; where we could not confirm that a place is operating, we left it out. There is no MICHELIN Guide for Ukraine, and we use no ratings.

Before you go

In wartime, opening hours, entry rules and timetables change without notice, and museums close during air alerts. Check directly with each place and with your government’s travel advice before you travel. Prices are in Ukrainian hryvnia (UAH).
